You could say that English is a living language. This is because over time the language changes. The words come to mean different things. Sometimes the same word can mean one thing for some people and quite another for a different group. This is especially true of legal jargon, but I won “t goes into that now. As a student of the English language, this aspect of their growth often fascinates me. It” s amazing how the meanings of words mutate over time. I can think of several words whose meanings are totally different years than they were fifty years ago. Gay is a good example but there are others.

In 1997 I took my first personal finance book, The Millionaire Next Door. I had heard that the book revealed to the world that people driving millionaires were cheap old cars and not to send their children to college. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the book revealed to me the common qualities of millionaires and that each is not an exaggeration of an idea. They have certain traits and habits and developing them is the surest way to join the ranks of millionaires in the world.
